What do I write?
What do you write?
Asked my then 11-year old as she watched me sat at my desk, pencil in hand, scribbling away. The quick answer was ‘I write’ but it’s a good question. So I thought I’d have a go at explaining what it is I actually do. Honestly, it took quite a while because it’s not as straightforward as it might look.
Because how often do we find ourselves awkwardly scrambling to find the right words to explain our work and do justice? Plus, it’s a lot harder writing about yourself than it is writing for someone else.
It’s a tough but useful exercise though. It focuses the mind and means that the next time someone asks what you ‘what do you do’ – you’ll have the words ready and waiting.
Who do I write for?
I write for all sorts of businesses. Large, small, creatives and corporates. I love delving into subjects and using words to create a connection between my client and their audience. The reader.
There’s listening and talking too, but mostly it’s about the writing.
Thank you for turning my clunky words into something more cohesive. And for all your hard work on my website. You made it look effortless.

- Content writing
I write blogs, email newsletters, case studies, bios, profiles, about me pages, websites & social media. From brainstorming initial content ideas to core messages, first drafts & giving you the final copy. I’ll write the words but it’s definitely a team effort. - Copy editing & proofreading
From tone of voice, key messages and the call to action to spelling, grammar and flow. I’ll be that all important second pair of eyes. - Consultation
Trouble shoot, brainstorm, chat – all designed to give you clarity and perspective. I’ll listen, ask questions and throw in ideas. You leave with clarity, confidence and actions to keep you on track.
Content writing – what does that mean?
It means I specialise in writing longer articles. Those times when you need to delve deeper, get into the story and create connections with your reader. Think blogs, case studies, websites and newsletters.
Copy editing & proofreading – so you just run spellcheck?
Not quite. Talk to me about why you’ve written these words, where you want to share them, the purpose and the audience.
I then read & check it against those aims making sure your brand voice, key messages and the call to action are all crystal clear. The words and phrases need to flow and yes, I’ll check for spelling and grammar too.
Consultation – isn’t that just a chat?
Well, yes It’s a chat but it’s a chat with purpose.
It’s an hour of troubleshooting your communication frustrations. Anything from taking a fresh look at your key messages and brand voice to bouncing new content ideas around.
Thanks so much for helping me to see a clearer way to get through to my clients. I’m feeling calmer and more in control.
