Frequently asked questions
What does a copywriter or content writer do?
Put simply, I write the words you need to market your business, products and services. And crucially the writing has a purpose – to help you and your business thrive.
That purpose might be to promote a new product or service, share news or build a relationship with your clients. This short blog might help fill in the blanks, but if in doubt, contact me and we can have a chat.
Who do you work with?
I work with large and small businesses, corporates and creatives. I work closely with a number of local small business owners in Ilkley, giving them website, blog and newsletter writing support amongst other things. I also work with a number of corporate clients on both specific and ongoing writing projects. There are case studies and client testimonials on my Portfolio page and my About Me page will give you insight into my background.
I’m a small business owner, why should I hire a copywriter?
Because writing takes time, headspace and skill. Running your own business can be overwhelming especially if you try to do everything. Hiring me to write your marketing content is an investment in your business. And one less thing for you to worry about.
I use my copywriting skills and communication experience to give you great value support and advice. Read how I’ve supported other small business owners with my copywriting on my Portfolio and Services pages.
How much does it cost?
It starts with a free 30 minute Discovery call because you might not know what copywriting help you need. My one-off copywriting packages start at £55 for an hour long content brainstorm. A single newsletter or blog starts at £135. See my Prices & Packages page for more information. Or get in touch here to book your free 30 minute Discovery call.
What kind of writing do you do?
I write blogs, newsletters, websites and social media captions amongst other things. If you’re a small business owner you need lots of words to market your business successfully. I can help you with that.
Even if you’re a larger business there are times when you don’t have enough hands to get everything done. I can slot in and be that extra pair of hands. This year alone (2021) I have worked on several one-off corporate writing projects:
- script for a Chief people officer to deliver at a virtual company-wide conference
- suite of materials for a culture change project for a global organisation including:
- Managers briefing document
- Animation script
- Managers Toolkit
- Team Toolkit for managers to deliver
My Services and Portfolio pages will give you a feel for the writing projects I’ve worked on recently. But, if you have a writing project that isn’t listed, please give me a call. I’d love to hear from you.
How do you write so that it sounds like me and not you?
I spend time learning about you and your business. I’ll look at your ideal client and any tone of voice and key message guidelines you have. I will also review your marketing material so that I have a solid understanding of your business priorities.
I’ll also get to grips with any technical language and terminology associated with your business and sector. Over the years I’ve worked in financial services, the leisure industry, energy and more recently an interior designer and garden designer.
How do you work? (Covid 19 & lockdown)
I work flexibly with my clients. If you have a phone and you’re online, we can work together. In an ideal world, meeting in person would be best but that’s just not possible at the moment. Luckily I’m experienced in working with clients near and far whether that’s phone, email, Zoom or Skype.
