I’m here for all you empaths out there. The people who think (sometimes too much) and believe there’s a way of doing business that is centred, unashamedly on other people and building solid, long-lasting relationships.
Being on social media for the community. Investing time in your email newsletter because it’s a brilliant way of starting and keeping a conversation going. Seeing a discovery call as a chance to learn about someone else and their world.
If empathy is about being able to see the world from someone else’s perspective – why wouldn’t you want to put that at the heart of your business?
The clients I work with are empaths. They care about their clients, their business and the world around them. And that’s why I love working with them.
No matter the business, it’s size or location – they care about the messages they share and the people reading them whether they’re clients, customers, co-workers, employees or suppliers.
Empaths are successful
That might not make me sound super commercial or strategic, but I am. It’s just that I believe that business is all about people. (Yikes, that does sound so cliched, but it’s still true)
That means you, your customers and clients. Your co-workers and suppliers. Your stakeholders and investors. All people.
I don’t understand why some – maybe because they sell to other businesses and see themselves as B2B – don’t see themselves as selling to people. Wondering whether they can use a more caring, thoughtful way of communicating with their audience. Why wouldn’t you want to show you care about the people receiving your products and services?
Businesses = People
Because businesses are made up of people aren’t they? Or is that too simplistic?
The context behind the conversation might be different. The goals and scale of the enterprise might be bigger, but essentially you still need to connect with people in order to succeed.
Happily, there seem to be a lot of empaths around. All banging the drum (quietly and gently) for a more thoughtful, human and empathetic way of doing business – whether you’re a one man band or a global corporate.
